Year 6 Special Events and Celebrations

Year 6 Visit to Paris - Feb Half Term

Every year, our Year 6 children are given the opportunity to visit Chateau de Grande Romaine, Paris.

During their visit, children are able to experience the vibrant culture and historic sights of the city Paris, practise their French speaking, listening & reading skills and test their mettle on some of the fastest, most thrilling rides that Disneyland Paris has to offer!

Not only that, children have the opportunity to learn about independence as they begin to prepare for secondary school.

The visit is organised through PGL.  They have been providing life-enriching adventures for memories that last a lifetime since 1957 and have organised every NIJ visit to Paris. More than 3 million children and young people have benefited from a PGL experience and more than 4,000 schools trust their school visit with PGL each year.

Accomodation

Accommodation is at Chateau de Grande Romaine – an ideal base on the outskirts of one of Europe’s most beautiful and diverse cities.

Chateau de Grande Romaine is a large centre set in 70 acres of grounds, and it is within a thirty-minute drive of Disneyland Resort Paris.

Pupils are accommodated in en-suite rooms, sleeping 4 – 8 children in each, with a mixture of single and bunk beds. The dorms are located along a secure corridor and New Invention staff rooms are located at either end and in the middle of the corridor.

Reward Visit: Drayton Manor - May

As a way of thanking the children for their hard work and effort as well as being linked to our Lunar Theme Park project as part of our Maths curriculum, Year 6 children are offered the chance to let off some steam and explore a real theme park with their friends. Whether it is thrill-seeking children are after or a visit to the animal enclosures, children are given the chance to create some lasting memories with children and adults from their journey here at NILA.

Leavers' Assembly - July

Get those hankies ready! Parents, carers and the rest of the school are invited to an end-of-school assembly that is created, directed and performed by our current Year 6 pupils. This gives everyone involved a chance to reflect on all the wonderful experiences that they have shared over the last 4 years.

Class-tonbury Leavers' Festival - July

Before their last day at NILA, children are invited to attend an outdoor leavers' festival of games, music, food and fun. This acts as a perfect opportunity for children to share one last event outside the classroom with their friends and all the adults that they have worked with during their time at our school.
